Compare the side mirrors of the modern car and the old car in Fig. L1. The mirror of the modern car is streamlined. This is done in order to reduce the drag acting on the mirror when the car is moving. But why is the drag reduced? And by how much? Reducing the drag saves fuel. How much fuel is actually saved?  Learning how to answer these questions is the goal of this lesson.
